The Time Has Come..........
To talk of many things.
Actually I want to talk about earworms. Now an earworm is a persistent tune or song or more usually a bit of a song playing in your head over and over that is hard to get rid of (you can only usually manage to get rid of it by replacing it with another song!).
I don't know about you, but I am plagued by them. I wake up with one every morning almost without fail. Now that is all fine and dandy when a) it is a song that you know and love and or b) you know why it is in your head (ie you heard it on the radio yesterday etc). Sometimes though I am beset by a totally random and awful song and I can't imagine why it is there and it just won't go, equally annoying is when you just get a fragment of tune or a few odd words and you can't even identify what the song is. This may not be so bad for those fortunate people who can sing their fragment to others for help with identification. Unfortunately my singing is so bad that this would be no help at all.
My earworm this morning was "I don't like Mondays" by the Boomtown Rats and Jonathan Ross played a version yesterday by some boy operatic band (G4 John tells me), they sounded awful - my earworm sounds better.
